ranging from the Youngblood Energy Library to IT support.

The Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy recognizes the vital role of technology in education. Equipping students with hands-on experience with industry-leading software and resources is a key goal of the college. As such, we have partnered with OU Information Technology to provide a variety of resources to students in the college.

Mewbourne College's IT team is committed to serving you in the most expedient and effective manner that they can.  In order to do this, we ask that you email or call the University's IT Helpdesk first before reaching out to individuals on our team.  This helps us track our work and make sure that no one gets lost in the busyness of our day.  You can do this by calling 325-HELP (325-4357) or visiting General IT Help and submitting a ticket.

Tutoring

The University of Oklahoma and Mewbourne College are dedicated to offering free tutoring support to students enrolled in a variety of courses. The primary goal is to provide assistance to students as they work on understanding and mastering the concepts presented in courses at both Mewbourne College and the university as a whole.

Major-Specific Tutoring


The Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy and Gallogly College of Engineering are devoted to providing academic support to students to promote academic excellence in engineering. Regardless of class level, all DEI students are encouraged to participate in tutoring services. Tutoring for math and engineering courses is available on a scheduled or individual basis. The University College has consolidated a list of tutoring services provided by the University of Oklahoma at no additional cost. If you are looking for a subject not listed, please contact your professor for recommendations and/or visit your professor during office hours for additional assistance with course material.

Youngblood Energy Library

The Youngblood Energy Library has over 200,000 references, books and maps related to geological topics. It is the most extensive geological reference library in the world. The library is surrounded by a two-story atrium in the heart of the Sarkeys Energy Center. With foyer floors of a quartz monzonite from Quebec, walls of fossiliferous limestone from central Texas, and museum-quality paleontological and mineral specimens, this library serves the student, faculty and staff of Mewbourne College.

Library Spaces and Resources

The Information Commons area offers dual-screen personal computers, as well as scanning, photocopying, and printing equipment.

The Youngblood Energy (Geology) Library Group Study Room is available for reservation by OU faculty, staff, and students. Visit the information desk to sign-up on the calendar.

The Current Periodicals area provides easy assess to print copies of some of the current periodicals and journals received at the Youngblood Library. Many of these journal titles also have electronic access.

The map collection includes a comprehensive collection of current and historical USGS topographic quadrangles, USGS maps in series (C, GP, GQ, HA, MI, MF, OC, etc.), and Defense Mapping Agency maps of the world and numerous thematic sheets of geological topics.
