Building on the common foundation modules, the Structural Engineering track dives deep into properties, fabrication methods, and applications of wood, steel and concrete.
The curriculum teaches key equations and analysis methods for determining the safety and soundness of structures made from these materials, including soil-structure interactions and the fundamentals of earthquake safety engineering.

This program features a Transportation Engineering track that will explore the impetus, philosophy, and policy for implementing a long term, comprehensive plan for managing infrastructure assets. Building on the common foundation modules, the Transportation Engineering track dives deep into engineering and economic analysis concepts and processes used to evaluate and support strategic and systematic investment, performance, and management of a transportation system.

The faculty for the M.S. in Civil Engineering are distinguished teachers and researchers, having received numerous awards including nine NSF Career Awards. In addition to their academic credentials, the faculty have over 180 years of combined industry experience.
Recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top engineering graduate program in 2018, OU offers an online degree in Civil Engineering in key areas that are experiencing significant growth – geotechnical, structural, and transportation.
Each class is carefully selected to foster a personalized, engaging experience with both faculty and peers. The format includes both synchronous and asynchronous activities designed to be similar to the experience students would have on-campus.
Tuition for the online M.S. in Civil Engineering program is $31,520* for the entire program. Fees associated with the program are included in this cost. Books and materials are additional.
Once accepted into the M.S. program, students are required to submit a $350 non-refundable deposit within two weeks. Deposits are applied toward tuition expenses and secure a student’s place in the upcoming class.
Admission to the online program is selective. Those interested in the program should have a competitive undergraduate GPA. Additional admissions factors may include work or service experience, demonstrated leadership potential, exceptional talents or skills, trends, or improvement in academic performance and undergraduate school performance.

All of this information will be considered as part of your application. Foreign applicants may be required to submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to demonstrate proficiency in English sufficient to successfully complete the program.
The admissions committee operates under a rolling admission process, and admissions may continue until two weeks before the start of classes. The committee strives to respond to all applicants within two weeks from the time a completed application is submitted.
