Curriculum developed and taught by faculty from
The Executive MBA (EMBA) in Energy provides students the opportunity to specialize in Hydrocarbons or Renewables. The program prepares graduates for leadership roles in these vital and constantly evolving fields. The program is offered mostly online and is designed to be completed in 15 months.
The 36-credit hour program consists of a 28-credit hour core curriculum and an 8-credit hour specialization. Students select from either the Hydrocarbon or Renewables specializations. World class OU faculty and professors of practice deliver the EMBA curriculum in a mostly online format. The program culminates with a Capstone Project, in which students synthesize concepts across the curriculum.
The program structure encompasses six online modules and three in-person, one-week residencies. Two of the residencies are on the OU campus (first and last module), while the third takes place in Europe. The energy industry is a global business. Current and future leaders must understand the transition the energy industry is currently undergoing as well as strategy, economics, regulatory, financial and policy decisions from an international perspective.
The OU EMBA in Energy program gives students an opportunity to experience these perspectives first- hand. The international module, about half-way through the program, is comprised of residencies in Amsterdam and London – both energy-centric locations with global influence. During the residency, students take courses, meet with energy leaders, visit energy companies, and experience local culture.
The cost of this experience is included in the tuition for the program. However, students are responsible for the expenses required to travel to the residency sites.
