About Ghosh

Ph.D. (Penn State) Professor Ghosh’s research centers on managerial accounting, with particular emphasis on how accounting information supports judgment and decision-making, management control systems, performance measurement, and transfer pricing. His teaching interests span managerial accounting, management control systems, and strategic cost analysis.

Professor Ghosh has published extensively in leading academic journals, including Accounting, Organizations and Society, Decision Sciences, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Business Ethics, and Management Accounting. He is also the co-author of the research monograph Applying Activity-Based Costing in Healthcare, published by the Institute of Management Accountants’ Foundation of Applied Research.

A past President of the Management Section of the American Accounting Association, Professor Ghosh has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences and regularly serves as a reviewer for several academic journals. He has served on multiple editorial boards, received “Best Paper” awards, and delivered keynote addresses at international conferences. He chaired the Doctoral Proposals Committee for the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Research Foundation for several years and currently serves as Committee Chair for the Glen McLaughlin Prize for Research in Accounting Ethics, awarded by the Steed School of Accounting.

Professor Ghosh’s professional experience includes work as an auditor with Deloitte and as a management accountant for a multinational manufacturing firm.

His excellence in the classroom has been recognized with multiple teaching awards, including the Merrick Foundation Teaching Award and the Regents’ Award for Superior Teaching, both from the University of Oklahoma. He was among the inaugural recipients of the University of Oklahoma’s Presidential Professorship, an honor created to recognize faculty who demonstrate exceptional achievement in teaching, research, service, and public engagement. He also holds the title of David Ross Boyd Professor, one of the University’s highest distinctions, recognizing sustained excellence in teaching, mentorship, and academic leadership.

Professor Ghosh has held several significant administrative roles. As Executive Director of the MBA Program, he established the Dunham Scholarship Program (generously funded by Linda and Archie Dunham), launched the Women and Business Leadership Conference (now the annual Women in Business Leadership Conference), and developed a joint MBA/IFP (Institute of French Petroleum) degree program. As the Founding Executive Director of the Energy Institute, he helped design and deliver the Energy Executive.

Management Program, a five-day overview of the business dimensions of the energy industry. He is also the principal architect of the 15-month hybrid Executive MBA in Energy, launched in 2014 and ranked the #1 graduate energy program in 2019. Additionally, he established an annual energy conference in partnership with Rice University’s Baker Institute and continues to design and deliver customized executive programs
