Goal

The goal of the Tisdale Community Advisory Council (TCAC) is to center community voices from the North Tulsa area to improve health equity and to establish a more collaborative relationship between the OU Health Physicians Wayman Tisdale Health Clinic and the surrounding community.  

Purpose  

The Advisory Council’s purpose is to provide feedback, insight, and community views to the OU Health Physicians Wayman Tisdale Clinic that may include: 

Strategic planning but not limited to:  

  • Community engagement strategy 
    • Proactive responses to changes at the community and state levels  
    • Strategy and prioritization in order to assure community outreach 
  • Bringing forward the concerns, priorities, and opportunities of their respective communities.
  • Facilitating meaningful two-way communication between Wayman Tisdale Clinic and the community particularly surrounding the clinic.
  • Creating a “pathway” for continued and sustainable engagement with the existing and newly emerging diverse communities.
  • Provide advice on strategies to effectively engage the community in transforming health care. 

Council Membership Selection

We are searching for potential members within the North Tulsa area, that has a passion for community engagement in creating access to healthcare, facilitating and supporting community programs in collaboration with the OU Health Physicians Wayman Tisdale Clinic and other key members of the community, and bringing forward concerns, priorities, and opportunities of their respective communities. 

The Tisdale Community Advisory Council is a volunteer organization that serves as an advisory council to OU Health Physicians Wayman Tisdale Specialty Health Clinic. The Council is open to community members who have both an interest in Wayman Tisdale Specialty Health Clinic and the surrounding area.  Members need to attend meetings. Meetings may be in-person or virtual attendance, as schedules permit.

Council Membership

The TCAC is a volunteer organization that serves as an advisory council to OU Health Physicians Wayman Tisdale Specialty Health Clinic.  TCAC is open to community members who have both an interest in Wayman Tisdale Specialty Health Clinic and the surrounding area.  Members need to attend meetings.  Virtual attendance at meetings will be facilitated. 

Board Membership  

  • Chair/Facilitator – OU Health Physicians Representative 
  • Vice Chair 

The CAC will review a slate of nominees for Vice Chairperson. Both the CAC Chair and the CAC Vice Chair will hold their positions for a 2-year term. They may be nominated for reappointment for one additional term. 

The CAC Chair is accountable for:  

  • Convening and leading meetings  
  • Developing, prioritizing and approving meeting agendas  
  • Ensuring engagement of CAC members  
  • Facilitating conflicts among CAC members  
  • Providing leadership to CAC members  
  • Ensuring regular communication to CAC members regarding decisions made by other groups that impact this CAC  

In the absence of the Chair, the Vice Chair may conduct meetings.  

Member Responsibilities

Each council member is responsible for fully and actively participating on the team in order to achieve the goals of the team as described in this Charter—accepting his/her responsibilities diligently and carrying his/her share of the team's work. 

  • The members should define and advocate for innovation
  • The members should act as a liaison for the community and for their individual groups
  • The members should look for avenues to transform care 
  • The members should have commitment to the community and the TCAC 

TCAC Meeting Frequency

Once established TCAC will meet quarterly.  At quarterly meetings, TCAC brings in guest speakers to provide its members with information about the clinic's initiatives, programs and processes. TCAC members will share concerns, offer constructive solutions, and later provide feedback.
