Here at The University of Oklahoma's Norman campus, we recognize that the Summer Semester is a busy time for many students and campus is far from empty. Recognizing the importance of engagement even during the summer, the Office of Student Life and our partners around campus continue to create opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and friends of OU to stay engaged on campus. 

 

Information about the Summer 2026 schedule can be found below. We will continue to make updates to this page throughout the summer.

Summer Sno Cones

Beat the heat of summer and get a get a free sno cone every Tuesday in June and July! Open to all OU community members and guests. We encourage all guests to be in line by 12:45 p.m. to ensure sno-cones. 

  • Dates: June 2, June 9, June 16, June 23, June 30, July 7, July 14, July 21, July 28
  • Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Location: South Oval near Bizzell Memorial Library

Tuesday, May 26 – Summer Programs Kick-Off With Sprittles

  • 11:00 AM-1:00 PM
  • The South Oval 
  • Join us for a FREE Sprittle (Sprite + Skittles) on a hot summer day! Bring your friends, co-workers, and lunch and hang out on the South Oval with outdoor games and fun vibes to kick-off summer!

Wednesday, June 10 – Tie Dye Tees & Totes

  • Noon-3:00 PM
  • The Residential Colleges, more information about location to come 
  • Join us for a fun tie-dye event with friends, music, and good vibes. We will provide the materials and you bring the creativity! Free while supplies last.   

Thursday, June 11 – FIFA World Cup Watch Party

  • 1:00 PM
  • Farzaneh Hall - Room 133
  • Come celebrate one of the world’s biggest sporting events as we bring the action to OU!  Join International Student Programs and Student Life for a World Cup watch party! 

Friday, June 12 – Plates and Palettes @ Norman Art Walk

  • 5:30 PM
  • 315 E. Gray St, Norman, OK
  • Join us for a fun, low pressure student hang-out designed to build community and enjoy art. Mingle at the Standard Restaurant over free appetizers, meet other students and art-lovers, and fuel up before heading out to enjoy local exhibits at the Norman Art Walk. 

Saturday, June 13 – OKC Grocery Shuttles 

  • Need groceries or essentials for the week? Join our Saturday Grocery Shuttles to Walmart and OKC for a convenient, stress-free shopping trip. Stock up on snacks, apartment essentials, and everyday necessities while connecting with other students along the way. More information and shuttle details will be available here when we have it. 

Wednesday, June 17 – Silent Book Club 

  • 10:00 AM-1:00 PM
  • Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, 555 Elm Avenue, Norman, OK 73019
  • Like to hang out with people but do not always feel like talking.  This is your event! There is no assigned reading-just bring your own book to the Cup of Jones Coffee Shop located in the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art & have a cup of coffee on us. You will share what you are reading, and settle in for an hour or so of sustained silent reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize (or not)!

Thursday, July 9 – OKC Science Museum and Dinner

  • Noon-8:00 PM
  • 2020 Remington Place, OKC
  • Experience the wonder of science at this Smithsonian Affiliated museum filled with acres of interactive exhibits. After, join us for a fun excursion to a fun OKC restaurant for free dinner. 
  • It will be $5 to secure your spot. 
  • When the form to secure your ticket is live, it will be linked here. Please check back in mid-June for the link.
  • Please know that this event is only open to OU students and their families. 

Saturday, July 18 – OKC Grocery Shuttles

  • Noon
  • Oklahoma Memorial Union-Regents Room
  • Join the Staff Senate and Student Life to break up the summer routine with an afternoon of bites and bingo.  Whether you come with friends, stop by for a fun time and a chance to win prizes! 

Thursday, July 31 – Movie Premiere: Spider Man Brand New Day 

  • 7:00 PM 
  • Regal Spotlight Theater - Norman
  • Swing into opening night with Summer Programs as we host this premiere. Join us for an unforgettable night of action, laughs, and everybody’s friendly neighborhood superhero.

Summertime Fit + Rec

The Sarkeys Fitness Center is open all summer long! The summer schedule is as follows:

May 18 - May 29

  • Monday - Friday: 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM; 10:00AM - 6:00 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday: CLOSED

June 1 - August 16

  • Monday - Friday: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Sunday: CLOSED

Aquatics is a lifelong activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you enjoy swimming laps, playing around in the water, water aerobics classes, or swim lessons, water is a great way to increase your health and lifelong well being.

The University of Oklahoma has one of the most active Intramural Sports programs in the country, logging more than 28,000 participations per year. Whether you enjoy structured leagues or informal activities, this is the place for you. The mission of the program is to provide exercise, recreation, competition, and fun to all participants and employees in a relaxed, yet structured environment. Participation in Intramural Sports activities can provide individuals with an enjoyable recreational experience, help develop habits that carry over into everyday life, promote wholesome social relationships and sportsmanship, and provide an opportunity for the development of a healthy body and mind.

OU Esports & Gaming

The OU Esports & Gaming Venue is THE home for gamers on campus. While the venue is closed for daily operations during the summer, it is available for private reservations. These include birthday parties, department staff meetings, tours, and more. Reserve a time or learn more here: OU Esports & Gaming Venue Reservations.

Stay connected and engaged through the OU Gaming Club’s Discord server, our central hub for all things gaming at OU. The server is open to students, faculty, staff, and the broader public, and serves as the main platform for communicating upcoming events such as community game nights, tournaments, and summer weeklies like Smash and other FGC titles.

Volunteer with the OU Food Pantry

The OU Food Pantry is a student run initiative. Students are essential to the success of the OU Food Pantry mission. You can make a difference and give back to the OU community by registering to be a volunteer. OU Faculty and Staff are also welcome to participate in volunteer activities.

The OU Food Pantry will be open Tuesdays 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM  & 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM during the summer. 

Volunteering at the OU Food Pantry involves assisting clients, stocking shelves, organizing orders, cleaning, and various other tasks. Check out Give Pulse for volunteer opportunities throughout the summer: OU Food Pantry | GivePulse

SafeRide & Norman On-Demand

As part of its continuing partnership with Norman On-Demand, OU SafeRide will be providing free rides to OU students, every weekend during the summer on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM. To be eligible for the no fare student SafeRide service, students must create their account using their official OU email address. 

If you want to use the Norman On-Demand service, outside of SafeRide hours, it will be at a low cost of $3 per ride, plus $1 for each additional rider.

Norman On-Demand Hours of Operation: 

  • Monday - Saturday: 7:00 PM-1:00 AM
  • Sunday: 10:00 AM-6:00 PM

Goddard Health Center

The Charles B. Goddard Health Center is open all summer long! The hours are:

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
