The School of Aviation within the College of AGS celebrates more than 75 years of flight training at OU Max Westheimer Airport, which was selected as Oklahoma’s Airport of the Year for 2021. Flying Magazine ranked OU as the top “university to consider when pursuing a degree in aviation.”

All AGS majors have access to state-of-the-art classrooms, computer labs, and research laboratory facilities in Sarkeys Energy Center, the National Weather Center, the Center for Spatial Analysis, the Radar Innovations Laboratory, and the Aviation North Campus.

Degrees offered through AGS are very marketable because they address important issues for the planet’s future, such as applied geographic information systems, high-impact weather, renewable energy, and climate change, and the growing pilot and air traffic controller shortages.

 Being a part of the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences has been a life-changing experience that has opened the doors to endless possibilities in the world of forecasting and weather research. From our specialized student organizations, such as OWL and SCAN, to our world-class weather research, I am constantly learning about new ways to get involved.
