Summer & Fall 2021 Updates

Summer & Fall 2021 Updates

We’re so excited you are joining the OU family! Below are the latest updates about our summer and fall plans, including details about in-person classes, New Sooner Orientation, Camp Crimson, campus tours, and Start Sooner. This is a dynamic and evolving website, so please check back regularly for the most current information. You can also visit the OU Together website for campus updates.

OU Campus

Will classes be held in person this fall?

The University of Oklahoma is planning for a resumption of in-person classes at regular capacity for the fall 2021 semester, with appropriate health and safety measures in place. The OU community's health and welfare remain our priority, and we will continue to monitor the situation in the coming months and keep you updated on our plans. Read the announcement from OU President Joseph Harroz Jr. for more details.

Great Reading Room

How do I enroll in classes?

The final (and most important!) step on your path to OU is to enroll in classes, which you’ll do at New Sooner Orientation (NSO). NSO is an advising, enrollment, and orientation event that will take place online this summer (May through July). There are several dates to choose from, and it’s important that you schedule soon so you have first pick of which date you want! The deadline to schedule your New Sooner Orientation Day is June 15, 2021. Curious about what your online NSO will look like? Visit newsooner.ou.edu for more information.

Camp Crimson

What is Camp Crimson?

Be sure to mark August 13-20 on your calendar for OU’s Camp Crimson experience! Camp Crimson is OU’s official welcome to all new students. Before classes start, you will have a week full of connecting with other incoming students, learning about OU’s history and traditions, and getting to know campus. You will receive your housing assignment and move-in date over the summer. Keep updated by visiting Camp Crimson's website

OU Residence Hall

When will I move into the residence halls?

Move-in is scheduled for August 10-12! Housing assignments, along with your move-in day and time, will be sent to students' OU email accounts over the summer. As you get ready to move onto campus, check out some of the amenities you’ll be able to experience as a student living at OU. If you have additional questions about housing, roommate assignments, or move-in, please visit the Housing & Food Services website, email housinginfo@ou.edu, or call 405-325-2511.

Nearpeer

How can I meet other OU students?

Are you ready to find your people? Looking for ways to meet and connect with your future classmates? You're not alone! OU is excited to share our Nearpeer app with incoming students. This peer-to-peer connection app will help you find people who share your interests and more! Unlike other social media platforms that keep you in touch with people you already know, Nearpeer connects you to other OU students you may not know! You'll be able to make new friends and join in on small group chats. To get started, visit nearpeer.net to create an account with your OU email address.

OU Campus Tour

Can I visit campus over the summer?

Yes! Sign up for a campus tour at tour.ou.edu. Tour dates will be added throughout the year to ensure our plan to welcome guests to campus stays up-to-date, so be sure to check that page for the more information. You can also take a live student guided virtual tour or a self-guided virtual tour to explore campus from the comfort of home.

Start Sooner

Are there summer programs I can attend?

If you're looking to get ahead on your college experience, consider Start Sooner! Start Sooner is an early start program that allows incoming freshmen to earn 6 hours of OU credit, move into your residence hall early, enjoy weekend trips to Oklahoma City and Tulsa, and connect with other incoming freshmen and upperclassmen before starting classes next fall. Start Sooner will be hosting its programming on-campus this summer from July 12 to August 5, and online programming will be available as well.

FSPS Community

How can I get involved in Greek Life in the fall?

More than 6,400 current students have chosen to join the Fraternity & Sorority community at OU. Each of our 56 active chapters is a member of one of our five Greek councils and each offers unique opportunities for personal growth and meaningful experiences to 29% of students. Each council has its own recruitment and intake process, including formal recruitment for Panhellenic Association and Interfraternity Council will be held August 17-22 during Camp Crimson. For questions, please email fsps@ou.edu or visit greek.ou.edu.
