Michele Nabonne

Michele Nabonne is an accomplished professional with a diverse academic background and a strong commitment to education and leadership. Michele holds an MA in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma in 2019. Michele came to the University of Oklahoma as a first-generation student from Tulsa, OK. Michele earned a Zoology BS in 1994 and a Psychology BA in 1995. Michele worked in OU Housing and Food Services as a Resident Advisor for three years and the Disciplinary Counselor for a year while in school.

With extensive experience in student support, Michele serves as the University of Oklahoma's Graduation Success Coordinator, helping seniors on their path to degree completion. Previously, Michele was the Director and Lead Academic Advisor at the Academic Advising Resource Center (AARC) and the Advising Coordinator and Senior Academic Counselor for the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences. Michele's professional journey includes significant service to the Oklahoma Academic Advising Association (OACADA), President, and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), Region 7 Representative.

Michele's dedication to academic advising is evidenced by the Provost’s Outstanding Academic Advising Award she received in 2002 for providing superior advising to OU students. Michele is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF), providing individualized support for success and degree completion. Michele is an experienced educator, currently teaching a section of the OU General Education course CAS 1543 Ethical and Intercultural Leadership, focusing on cultural fluency, critical thinking, civil discourse, citizenship, and community engagement from a leadership perspective.

Michele lives on a state Wildlife Management Area in SW Oklahoma with her husband, Joe, a Wildlife Biologist, and their two cats, Dusk and Silverbelle. They have a daughter, Sylvia, a licensed Cosmetologist, who is also currently in college at TVCC in Athens, TX, and is a member of the Beef Cattle Show Team.
