OU professor to serve on national media ethics committee

NORMAN, OKLA. – Jensen Moore, Ph.D., an associate professor of public relations at the University of Oklahoma’s Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, has been elected to a three-year term on the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s Standing Committee on Professional Freedom and Responsibility.

The committee focuses on free expression, ethics, media criticism and accountability, diversity and inclusion, and public service.

“Being elected to AEJMC’s Professional Freedom and Responsibility Committee is an incredible honor,” Moore said. “I look forward to contributing to the committee’s mission, strengthening outreach to the next generation of scholars and professionals, and advocating for diverse publics.”

Moore will serve as resolutions chair, represent the committee in the Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Outstanding Early-Career Woman Scholar Award process, and serve as liaison to the Sports Communication Division and Small Programs interest group. Her research includes crisis communication, corporate social responsibility and corporate social advocacy.

Moore joined OU in 2016 and specializes in digital media, health communication and crisis communication. She previously led AEJMC’s Mass Communication and Society Division and chaired the Public Relations Society of America’s Educators Academy.
