Summer Semester

Students on OU's campus in Norman, Oklahoma.

Summer Semester

The summer semester at the University of Oklahoma provides you with a unique opportunity to get ahead, stay on track or catch up while still enjoying some downtime.

Taking just one class every summer allows many students to graduate one semester sooner!

Hours

Students may enroll in up to 9 credit hours during the summer (course restrictions may apply) to reduce fall and spring course loads. Summer courses also offer opportunities to enroll in high-demand requirements, focus on challenging subjects, or pursue special options such as Study Abroad, intensive study, or practicum experiences that may not fit into the regular academic year.

Benefits

Most summer classes are offered online or in smaller, on-campus settings, creating a more relaxed and interactive learning environment. Students may also live on campus during the summer, with access to housing, activities, and convenient parking. OU’s accelerated summer schedule allows students to earn credits efficiently while still enjoying a slower-paced, flexible summer.

Look into one of our many course options this summer. Summer is a great time to focus on foreign language requirements or to concentrate on a difficult subject!

OU Summer Semester courses begin immediately after the spring semester and are offered in five 4- and 8-week blocks. Because of the condensed format, many courses meet Monday through Friday.
