Oklahoma Voter

To register in Oklahoma, you must have an address in the state. You may use your permanent address (where your parents/guardians live) if you are from Oklahoma or your campus address (your residence hall or off-campus apartment/house). For example, if you're an OU student who's living in Headington College but your parents live in Tulsa, you may choose to register to vote in Norman (with your Headington College address) or in Tulsa (using your parents' address).

If you live out of state and choose to register in Oklahoma, your residency or tax status won't change. For example, if your parents live in Austin, Texas and you want to register to vote using your address in Walker Tower, you can do so without negative ramifications.

Your decision of where to vote is ultimately your choice. Many students consider factors such as ease of access to Election Day polling locations or passion about local issues when making their decision. Registering to vote using your campus address may also make it easier for you to participate in local elections, which occur more frequently than state and national elections. Know that when you register to vote using your campus address, you will not have to travel far to vote on Election Day or during Oklahoma's early voting period, nor will you need to request an absentee ballot. You may have to travel or request an absentee ballot if you register in another city or state.
