The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) reviews, approves, and provides on-going oversight for live vertebrate animals participating in OU teaching, testing, or research activities as promulgated in the Animal Care and Use Program (ACUP) and the Animal Welfare Act. Faculty desiring to engage animals in teaching, testing, or research must complete an animal use application, fulfill training requirements, and obtain medical healthcare clearance.
The IACUC meets at least once every month. Animal use applications, including new submissions, amendments, annual progress reports, and requests for protocol exemption, shall be processed in the order in which they are received to the email address IACUC@OU.EDU. Questions regarding the animal program processes or protocol submission guidelines may be submitted to the IACUC chair, Cameron Siler, PhD, via email (IACUC@ou.edu) or phone (405-325-2609).
