Students will develop effective study strategies, strengthen their academic and financial literacy, and learn how to navigate university systems and processes.
Throughout the year, emphasis is placed on fostering a sense of belonging, building self-advocacy skills, and empowering students to engage fully in their academic journey. By the end of the first year, students will not only understand how the university operates, but also recognize their own capacity to succeed as scholars and valued members of the OU community.
Students will refine their academic and career goals, actively leverage campus resources, and develop the skills and connections needed for long-term success. By the end of the second year, students will be positioned to pursue graduate education, competitive career opportunities, and leadership roles with confidence. Year Two is designed to help students build momentum and expand their access to opportunities that support their continued growth and achievement.
This year emphasizes translating academic experiences into marketable skills, strengthening professional networks, and preparing for post-graduate pathways. Students engage in résumé development, interview preparation, graduate or professional school planning, and financial literacy for life after college.
By the end of the third year, students will have the confidence, skills, and experience needed to successfully transition into the workforce or continue their education.
Internships, research, service, and capstone experiences are leveraged to ensure students can confidently articulate their skills and impact. By graduation, students leave not only career-ready, but community-minded—prepared to build meaningful futures, remain engaged alumni, and create opportunity for the next generation.
For students who remain enrolled beyond four years, this time serves as an opportunity for refinement and renewed focus. Students deepen their skills, strengthen academic performance, and enhance their professional readiness while intentionally reflecting on their growth and goals.
This phase emphasizes continued mentorship, experiential learning, alumni engagement, and career or graduate school planning. Each additional semester is designed to build clarity, confidence, and competitive advantage—ensuring students are fully prepared to transition into their next chapter with purpose and momentum.
