Job Description:

This is a Federal Work Study position at Norman Firehouse Art Center (FAC) in Norman, OK.

The Graphic Design Assistant will assist with the design and development of digital content, including website, social media, and email newsletters, and the design and production of print materials including postcards, posters, ads, and more. Depending on skill level and artistic background, this position will include photographing events and classes and assisting with exhibition set-up. Requires some physical labor.

Job Requirements: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in the current Spring 2019 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
  • Must attach Spring 2019 ONE class schedule.
  • Must have received and accepted a work study award for the Spring semester
  • Preferred: Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Advertising, Marketing student, or earning a bachelor's degree in a similar field.
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs, bend and lifting items.

Skills:

  • Familiar with social media and web platforms
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
  • Good communication skills and detail oriented
  • Professional and pleasant presentation and manner
  • Able to work with people with a variety of personalities and skill levels
  • Able to prioritize and handle stressful and time-sensitive situations 
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Experience in website content management systems, photography and basic HTML

Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma hires seasonal summer staff each year. The hiring process usually begins in January, and runs until summer (or until positions are filled).

They are hiring for two locations:

  • Day Camp runs out of our OKC office, so staff must be able to provide their own transportation to and from each day. Pay is $8-$8.50 an hour depending on experience and position (Lead Counselors, Counselors). Staff hired for this location generally work indoors, aside from trip programs that go off site (water parks, hikes, etc.) and breaks outside each day. Participants that these staff will work with are anywhere from 2nd-8th grade with the majority being 2nd-5th grade. These positions start June 3rd and end July 26th.
  • Overnight Camp runs out of Marlow, near Duncan. Staff must be able to live on site for the duration of the programs (usually 6 days, with some weekends required). Pay ranges from $250-$400 a week, depending on experience and position (Food Services Director, Overnight Counselors, Horse Camp Counselors, Lifeguards, Kitchen Assistants). Staff hired for this location will spend the majority of their time outdoors with girls teaching them how to ride horses, canoe/kayak, build fires, do archery, make friends, build teams, and so on. Staff at this location will work with girls in grades from 2nd-12th, with the majority being 3rd-7th grade. These positions start for the most part on May 23rd, and most of them end August 1st.

The J.D. McCarty Center has multiple opportunities within the Center for students from OU.

The center is hiring students in a volunteer/internship position until April 19.
